The Soldier As Servant: A Leadership Paradigm Shift for the 21st Century?
Abstract
This paper argues that the present leadership paradigm of the Canadian Army is inadequate to train the modern soldier as defined by CFP 300. The present paradigm emphasizes control and, in effect, never relinquishes the autonomy needed by the modern soldier to face the complex situations of the 21st century. The paper argues for a dialogue to take place within the Army to establish a more flexible paradigm. A possible framework to begin this discussion is suggested.Downloads
