About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Opuscula: Short Texts of the Middle Ages and Renaissance is a peer-reviewed, on-line journal/text series published by Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, specializing in short texts of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. We seek single-witness editions of a broad range of pre-modern texts including but not limited to literary and philosophical works, letters, charters, court documents, and notebooks.

Peer Review Process

Submissions will be subject to a double-blind review process involving two readers. Submissions must be accompanied by digital facsimiles of the base manuscript(s).

Reviewers will assess the accuracy of the edition or translation and whether the level and depth of annotation is appropriate. They will also assess the introduction, ensuring that it provides a reasonable and up-to-date introduction to the text that will guide a non-specialist in reading and interpreting it.

Reviewers are asked to complete their reviews within 12 weeks.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
