Résumé

La demande d’un soutien proactif des étudiants ayant une incapacité se fait de plus en plus pressante dans l’enseignement postsecondaire. Le présent article porte sur une étude où des conseillers et conseillères en besoins spéciaux ainsi que d’autres membres du personnel ont employé diverses méthodes dans le cadre d’un projet pilote axé sur la refonte de cours visant à accroître l’inclusivité. L’étude montre que la collaboration des conseillers et conseillères en besoins spéciaux est fructueuse et bien acceptée au sein des équipes. Il y est aussi question des défis à surmonter de la part des conseillers et conseillères, dont le temps à accorder à ce travail dans le cadre de leur soutien quotidien offert aux étudiants. Des recommandations y sont faites touchant la participation des conseillers et conseillères en besoins spéciaux à la refonte de cours inclusifs, dont celles de les inclure davantage dans la conception des programmes d’études et de veiller à ce qu’ils en aient le temps.

Philip Burge, PhD, chercheur en travail social, est professeur au Collège Humber de Toronto (Canada) et professeur agrégé adjoint à l’Université Queen's de Kingston (Canada). À titre d’éducateur et de chercheur, il a publié plus de 25 articles dans des revues avec comité d'évaluation par les pairs dont A quarter century of inclusive education for children with intellectual disabilities in Ontario: Public perceptions. Il participe présentement à plusieurs projets tendant à accroître l’inclusion proactive d’étudiants ayant des besoins particuliers dans les programmes d’études postsecondaires. 

Dr. Mazzuca, Professor, Humber College, Toronto, Ontario

Josephine Mazzuca, PhD, chercheuse, possède plus de 20 ans d'expérience et enseigne présentement dans le domaine des méthodes de recherche quantitative et de la sociologie à la Faculté des arts libéraux et des sciences du Collège Humber. Elle a également mis en application son expertise tant au sein des entreprises que du secteur bénévole en menant des recherches sur le marché et les employés ainsi qu'en matière de violence conjugale et du bien-être des enfants, et elle a effectué des évaluations de programme pour des agences sociales. Elle a terminé ses études supérieures à l'Institut des études pédagogiques de l'Ontario de l'Université de Toronto (OISE/UT) au sein du Département de sociologie et des études sur l'équité, avec concentration sur les méthodes de recherche qualitative.
