Abstract

The fostering of creativity is currently seen as a primary goal of education, but the view of creativity which underlie this emphasis dictates that creativity must sometimes be purchased at the expense of the quality of the work produced. It is maintained here that this dichotomy between creativity and quality which is assumed in this view as a false one, based on an erroneous theory of creative process. It is argued that the notions of creativity and quality are intimately connected, and that, thus, the question of the choice between the two does not really arise.
