Discussions of the use of new media in education have almost always been limited to questions of efficiency and effectiveness. Little thought has been given to the consequences of these uses for notions of curriculum and pedagogy. In this paper the Sesame Street planning documents are analysed. The assumptions about televi sion, curriculum and pedagogy are discussed in relation to the program which has initially developed .
