Undertaking responsibility is a difficult process. Undertaking educational responsibility is a major challenge. The basic characteristics of education impose boundaries on educational responsibility. In this article an attempt is made to consider the problem of educational responsibility through a systematic analysis of seven characteristics. In order to confront the challenge a new outlook on the educational system is required. Some basic alternatives, although preliminary in nature, are suggested.
