About Submission
Submissions of no more than 1500 words - excluding references- are accepted on a rolling basis from graduate students at the University of Calgary. Authors should be prepared to present at the next Peer Beyond Graduate Research Conference (PBGRC), held annually in February, typically during the term break.
Looking ahead, we aim to introduce special issues that will provide additional publication opportunities beyond the conference, but submission is currently only open to those who wish to present their work at the next Peer Beyond.
Submission Timelines
Because leadership of the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) academic team transitions following annual elections every march March, communication during the Spring/Summer terms may be sporadic. Once the new leadership team has settled into their roles and established priorities and timelines for their term, they will reach out in the Fall semester to those who have submitted, providing confirmation of conference dates, notifications of acceptance or rejection, detailed next step instructions, and editorial notes. PBGRC conference dates will usually be confirmed no later than October.
Submission is not a guarantee of acceptance. Accepted submissions presented at the conference will automatically be published in our next PBGRC issue.
Submit to PBGRC
Please ensure your piece adheres to our PBGRC style sheet and PBGRC template and the the Author Guidelines. Note that authors will need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step submission process.
To verify your desire to present at the next PBGRC sometime in February, include a short statement of intent indicating your interest in the conference (one - two sentences) in the "Comments for the Editor" section during your submission. In your comments, indicate your desired presentation format:
Supported presentation formats include
-
Classic Research Talks (10 minutes presentation, 2 minutes Q&A)
-
Poster Sessions (5 minute talks followed by Q&A in the poster hall)
-
Non-Traditional Formats [upon request] (workshops, art exhibitions, performances, etc.)
